Located in the Guillemins at the foot of the hill of Cointe station Liège-Guillemin was an important crossroads of the Belgian rail network . This is the second station in Wallonia number of passengers . It is also international train station, in allowing the ICE and the Thalys.

A parking area is also built behind the station with direct access onto the highway. It will be the only station with direct highway access in Europe!

Calatrava's work lies between art, architecture and engineering . His constructions, inspired by his sculptures and drawings are genuine artistic creations . It defies the laws of gravity stretching disconcertingly metal structures

... According to the architect, one of the essential characteristics of this new station will be its lack of identifiable facade. It will be rather a place open and free access illustrating the principles of diffusion and communication which it is attached.
Instead of a traditional facade you will find that large openings marked by metal awnings overlooking the square outside the building.
